How to check if you meet minimum specifications for Fer.al

Fer.al, unlike Animal Jam, can be a little picky about what computers can run it. In order to run the game, you must have:

- a 64-bit processor and operating system,

- a Mac or Windows operating system

- Mac requires at least High Sierra 10.13

- Windows requires at least Windows 7 with Service Pack 1

- 4 GB of RAM

- a graphics card that meets or exceeds the Radeon 7000 series (2001)

- 2 GB of available storage space

Unfortunately, machines that run Linux like Chromebooks can not run Fer.al. As for Mac and Windows systems, here's how you can check to see if you meet minimum specifications!

NOTE: Just because you encounter a problem with the game does not necessarily mean that you are under minimum specs, however underperforming PCs can cause issues with launching and running the game! Downloading and running the game is always worth a try but if you're having trouble, checking to make sure you are up to par makes diagnosing your issue easier.

Windows 7, 8 and 10

Checking Windows version, RAM, and processor

1. In your Windows search bar, type "Control Panel" and run "Control Panel".

2. Click on "System and Security".

3. Click on "System". You should arrive at a screen like this:

4. Make sure your version of Windows is at least Windows 7 with Service Pack 1: if you are running Windows 7, "Service Pack 1" will appear underneath the version of Windows 7 that you are running.

5. Confirm that under "Installed memory (RAM)" you have at least 4 GB.

6. Check that under "System type" you have both a 64-bit Operating System and a x64-based processor.

Checking your available memory

7. In your Windows search bar, type "storage" and click on "Storage settings" as it appears in the search results.

8. Make sure your computer has at least 2 GB of available memory left. It is recommended that you at least have slightly more than that available because your computer runs very slow when your storage is nearing full capacity.

Checking your graphics card

Now, this step isn't 100% necessary because, as you saw above, the minimum graphics card, the Radeon 7000 series, was released in 2001! If your system was produced in the 2010s, you're probably safe! But if you want to make extra-uber sure, you are welcome to go through these steps.

9. In your Windows search bar, type "device manager" and run "Device Manager".

10. Expand the "Display adapters" tab to reveal your graphics card. Some laptops come with two graphics cards: in this case, you're welcome to check both.

11. There isn't an easy way to measure the performance of a graphics card, so I recommend looking up the date of release on your card and checking if it was made after 2001.

Even still, if you're uncertain if your graphics card meets minimum requirements, you are always welcome to run the game and see if you encounter any strange looking textures: that would indicate an underperforming graphics card.

Mac

Checking MacOS version, RAM, processor and graphics card

1. Go to the Apple Menu in the top left corner and click on "About this Mac".

2. Make sure the version number exceeds 10.13.

3. Under "Memory" make sure you have at least 4 GB.

4. Your graphics card qualifies by default since Macbooks came out in 2008: unless you have a really old school Mac, there is no need to check this! If you feel the need to, you can always follow the applicable instructions in the "Checking your graphics card" section of the Windows instructions.

5. As for your processor, look up the full name of your processor to determine whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.

Checking available memory and processor type

5. From the "About this Mac" menu, click on the "Storage" tab.

6. Make sure your computer has at least 2 GB of available memory left. It is recommended that you at least have slightly more than that available because your computer runs very slow when your storage is nearing full capacity.

That's all she wrote! If you're having trouble following the instructions or want to provide feedback, please contact Inquiry (Please ping replies!)#7740 and I am happy to receive you! Thanks for taking the time to give this a read; hopefully you found it helpful!
